IT at UNSW - About the Exchange Email Service

Exchange Email is a new email service which will provide a single, secure email system for staff of UNSW. The service is available to UNSW staff (including casual, visiting, contract, emeriti, conjoint and adjunct staff) and postgraduate research students (PhD and Masters by research).

Exchange Email will eventually replace the current UniMail email service, which is to be phased out by the end of 2009.

Benefits of the Exchange Email

Exchange Email provides a single, common email, calendaring, resource and room booking system across UNSW. The service is centrally maintained, does not have restrictive quota limits like UniMail, and has more effective spam filtering. The service can also be accessed via a variety of means, including handheld mobile devices.

The service includes the following features:

Desktop client access eg Outlook
Distribution Lists (for group mailouts)
Global Address List (GALs) and sub-GALs
Shared Mailboxes
Mail Redirection
Mail Filtering
Virus Scanning
Out of Office Messages
Exchange Calendar
Resource management (Meeting Rooms and Equipment bookings)
