Read more.. Getting started with zMail Before you can access the zMail email service, you need to activate your zMail account. As the zMail service is hosted by Microsoft, some steps involve Microsoft resources.
zMail setup involves the following steps: 1. Activate your zMail account 2. Choose a preferred alias 3. Import your UniMail messages 4. Use the zMail web interface Further information regarding the zMail service can be found on the following pages: About the zMail service The University is replacing the current UniMail email service for all undergraduate students, postgraduate coursework students and alumni with a new email service called zMail. zMail provides a significant improvement over the current UniMail service which is limited to only 20Mb of storage. Your zMail account will exist for life, as long as you maintain an association with the University either as a student or as a UNSW alumnus. The zMail service is a web-based email service that is managed and provisioned by UNSW and hosted by Microsoft at the 'Outlook live' site in the USA. Please note: students and alumni who currently redirect their incoming UNSW email to some other mail service such as Gmail or Hotmail will not be impacted by the introduction of zMail. However, a zMail email account will be created for these users to give them the opportunity to evaluate zMail as a preferred email environment. More information on the zMail service and features can be found on the zMail FAQ page. zMail email address formats Email addresses will be the same format as currently used with UniMail, that is: Students – z1234567@student.unsw.edu.auWhere z1234567 is your student number. Emails in this address format are sent or received via the UNSW Email Gateway. Note: as zMail is hosted via Microsoft's Outlook Live site, you may see your login ID in the following form when displayed on Outlook Live interfaces: z1234567@zmail.unsw.edu.auThis is your Windows Live ID. |
