Import UniMail into zMail If you have been using UniMail to read your UNSW email and would like to import your stored emails into zMail follow these steps. The importing process does not affect your UniMail account at all, and does not require you to log into UniMail. Your emails in UniMail will not be deleted as part of this process. These instructions assume you have already set up your zMail account. Important: This process will only import messages stored in your UniMail Inbox. If you have created other folders inside UniMail to store emails (some people file emails under different folders depending on the subject matter) you will have to transfer those emails back into your UniMail Inbox before importing them, otherwise they won't be transferred. UniMail to zMail migration steps:
Step 1 - Enter your UniMail account details in zMail: 1. Log into zMail and click the Options button in the top right corner
2. In the options window, click the Account tab in the top left corner and scroll down to the Other Accounts section
2. In 'Other Accounts' click the New... button
3. In the New Account window, enter the following:
![]() Click the Next button then wait for the account search to complete
4. If you get the message 'You're good to go! Your accounts are now connected' this means its found your UniMail account and the connection process is complete. Click Finish to exit the connection wizard and continue on to Step 2 below.
If you receive the error message 'Email address ... isn't valid because it's either the primary SMTP address or in the proxy address list for mailbox ...'. You need to click Back and re-do step 3 above but omit 'student.' from the e-mail address field (e.g. z1234567@unsw.edu.au). If you receive the below error message instead - view these additional instructions
Step 2 - Check that your UniMail messages have been imported To view your imported UniMail emails, click the 'My Mail' button in the top right of the screen. It may take a little while for all your imported UniMail messages to appear.
Eventually the word 'OK' will appear under the 'Status' heading in the 'Other Accounts' section. This denotes that all the UniMail messages have been successfully imported.
Step 3 - Remove the UniMail import directive Once all your UniMail Inbox email messages have been successfully imported into zMail, you should delete the connection to UniMail in the 'Other Accounts' section as follows. 1. In the 'Other Accounts' section, click on your email address then click the X button.
2. A warning will open in a new window, click Yes to delete the connection to UniMail.
This completes the import UniMail messages to zMail process. |
