Optima Font for UNSW Staff use

This is Optima font is for distribution at UNSW. The font is licensed for UNSW staff only, it is not available to students. After you install the font see the link at the base of this page on how to set it as the default font in Word.

Downloading & Installing the Optima font

NOTE: You need to enter your UNSW Staff Number and UniPass when promted to download the Optima font.


For Windows PCs

1. Download the Windows Optima LT Std fileset to your desktop.

2. Double-click the new file and extract the content to your desktop.

3. Open 'My Computer' and go to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts and move all the files to this location for them to be installed.



For Mac OS X

1. Download the Mac Optima fileset to your desktop and unStuffIt.

2. Locate the Fonts directory on your Mac as follows:

Open your Hard Drive then open the Library > Fonts folder. You should see all of your current fonts.

3. Open the Optima folder you just unStuffed, select ALL of the Optima files and drag and drop these into Fonts folder (Library > Fonts).

4. You will need to quit and relaunch your applications before they will recognise the new fonts.

Note: if you are on a shared Mac with multiple users you may not be able to add the fonts to the central font folder as above (no admin rights). You will need to add them just for your user account. For this, add the files to this directory: Users/yourusername/Library/Fonts/. Fonts in this location are available to you only. No other other account on the machine can access them.
