Beware of 'Webmail' email phishing scams
From time to time email scammers send fake emails purportedly from 'UNSW Webmail' or 'Webmail Help Desk' etc or addressed to 'Dear Webmail User'. 'Webmail' is not a UNSW email service or product name. These emails variously state that 'Webmail' is being changed or upgraded, over quota or your password has been lost and you need to change your password via a link in the email. These are scam (phishing) emails designed to trick users into providing their usernames, passwords and date of birth. They do not originate from UNSW. Variations of these emails are targeted to many Australian and international universities throughout the year. UNSW IT will never
ask you to provide your username and password or other sensitive information via a link in an email. You should delete these emails immediately. If you are unsure of their origin contact the IT Service Centre
