What do we do

Voice Networks provisions and supports a number of key Voice Networks systems throughout UNSW.


The UNSW PABX telephone systems consists of eleven (11) geographically remote PABXs networked to form one PABX system; The physical PABX nodes are located at

  • Kensington
  • Coogee
  • Randwick
  • College Of Fine Arts
  • Manly Vale
  • CFI
  • O'Connell St, Sydney CBD
  • Pitt St, Sydney CBD

The UNSW phone network supports approximately 13,000 extensions and completes over 3 million calls per annum.  (Roughly 70,000 calls per day)

The system supports both TDM and VoIP telecommunications and has successfully deployed VoIP to all the UNSW remote sites.

Fixed line Telephony

The University's fixed line services consist of some 400 PSTN lines and 500 ISDN services supporting services from Video conferencing to EFTPOS terminals.
