Commencing Students - Getting Started

Your username for accessing most UNSW online systems such as myUNSW, UNSW Blackboard and zMail email is your UNSW Login ID, which consists of a 'z' followed by your UNSW ID (student number). To learn more about usernames click here.


Create UniPass

For first time UNSW students go to https://idm.unsw.edu.au and click on 'New User - Click Here' in the centre of the screen.

Enter the required details then click on 'submit'. The password you create in this form is your UniPass.

Unipass is required for first time access to MYUNSW (when you accept your offer) and can also be used to access the UNSW Identity Manager if you have forgotten your zpass.

Create a zPass

A zpass is your pasword which enables secure log-in to Email, Student Learning Systems, and other resources including myUNSW. Create your zPass now.


Create a zMail account

The zMail service is a web-based email service that is managed and provisioned by UNSW and hosted by Microsoft at the 'Outlook live' site in the USA. The first step is to activate your account. Activate your account now.


Access Wireless Networking

UniWide is the UNSW Campus Wireless Network for UNSW students. It offers fast, secure wireless network connectivity from a wide range of locations across UNSW's campuses. Wireless access is available to all current students. UniWide can be accessed via any WiFi-enabled laptop or mobile device that supports WPA wireless security. Setup Uniwide Wirless Networking now.
