How to Change your UniPass

STEP 1. Go to the UNSW Identity Manager web site:

- In the User ID field enter your UNSW Student Number (ie z1234567)

- In the Password field enter your current UniPass password.
(If you can’t remember your UniPass phone the IT Service Centre on (02) 9385 1333)

If you have logged into UNSW Identity Manager previously, you can hide first time user instructions

If this is the first time you have logged in to the IDM site you will be prompted to agree to the conditions of use.

1. Agree to the Conditions of use - UNSW ICT Resources.

2. Supply answers of your choosing to the Answers to Authentication Questions table. In future, if you return to the Identity Manager website and press the ‘Forget your password?’ button you will be presented with some of these questions to answer.

It is important you enter the answers accurately to ensure you can answer them in future.

Hint: If you have never owned a car, enter the word none in that field.

Click ‘Change Responses ’ to save your entries.

STEP 2. On the User Accounts section, click the button 'Change UniPass'.

STEP 3. Type a new password into the 'New Password' field.

Your UniPass must;

  • be at least 8 characters long
  • contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
- Uppercase letters (A B C ...)
- Lowercase letters (a b c ...)
- Numbers (0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9)
- Non-alphanumeric and Unicode characters eg ` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * - + = | \ { } [ ] ( ) : ; " ' < > , . ? /

Re-enter your new password in the 'Confirm Password' field then click ‘Change Password’.

STEP 4. You have now changed your UniPass. Click the 'LOGOUT' button to exit your Identity Manager account.

You can test your UniPass immediately by re-entering the IDM site by using your UniPass in the Password field.
